Boxwoods are grown for their small, neat, leathery leaves and dense long-lived growth habits. English Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) is a tough, bushy, rounded shrub with oval to oblong, glossy, dark green leaves. Best in USDA zones 5-8, English Boxwood remains a popular topiary or hedge plant because of its small evergreen leaves and tolerance for close shearing.
