Justicia spicigera
This mostly evergreen shrub has large, velvety green leaves and produces clusters of orange tubular flowers throughout the year. While Mexican Honeysuckle will take full sun, when planted in filtered sun, under desert trees like mesquite, ironwood, palo verde or desert willow they tend to bloom longer. They appreciate supplemental water during the hottest summer months. Easy to grow, adaptable to full or part sun, tolerant of heat. The long blooming season provides a rich food source for hummingbirds.
