Matala’s Biosteps 11 series of pond filters offer great value, a compact footprint, upgradable modular design, and are customizable to fit just about any pond. These gravity flow filters feature progressive density filter media and a cross flow design which is able to easily trap debris, even at high flow rates, without the rapid buildup of settled solids on the filter bottom.
The included Matala mats (2 green, 2 blue, and 2 gray) offer three progressive densities to ensure that particulates of all sizes get filtered while also providing 200 ft2 of surface area for the good beneficial bacteria that keep your water chemistry pristine. A sloped filter bottom and bottom drain make backwashing fast and simple to reduce cleaning time. Automotive grade polymers ensure that your Biosteps 11 stands up to not only weather, but the hot and cold cycles that can quickly destroy lesser plastics.
The modular plug-and-play design ensures that whatever your pond needs, there is a Biosteps 11 for you, but as your pond grows and changes with time, your Biosteps 11 allows your filter to grow with you. Whether you decide to add ultraviolet clarification, a waterfall spillway, drain valve, or change your hose size to accommodate a new pump, the BioSteps has the option and you can add it at any time!
The Biosteps 11 has a dimensional footprint of 20″ L x 15″ W x 23″ H, features a new “Swivel Inlet Fitting” with barb sizes for 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″ and 1.5″, as well as outlet fittings for 1.5″ or 2″ pipe connection. The pipe connection outlet utilizes an open flow “gravity return” to the pond but, of course, you can also use the optional 11″ Waterfall Spillway, sure to create a stunning display!
