The Philodendron Merlot has deep green, almost black, glossy leaves. Their stems and the new leaves emerge in a deep plum colour, hence the name! Very rare and a perfect statement piece.

Care
General Maintenance: Ensure your pot has adequate drainage to avoid root rot.Repot every 1-2 years as needed. Trim away any dead leaves as necessary.Can be propagated from stem cuttings.
Temperature: Thrives in normal household temperatures, between 15C-26C. Keep away from drafts and drastic temperature changes.
Light: Can tolerate lower light conditions but will grow fastest in bright indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it may scorch the leaves.
Watering: Water thoroughly, then allow the top 2/3 of the soil to dry before watering again. They can benefit from some extra humidity, provided by misting or a pebble tray.
Soil: Any well-draining potting mix. A high-quality potting mix with some added perlite and/or orchid bark would be perfect.
Fertilizer: Philodendrons are not heavy feeders but will benefit from a balanced houseplant fertilizer once a month during the spring and summer.
