Picea gluaca or “Alberta spruce” or “white spruce” is a staple addition to the garden. Slow growing with densely packed foliage, this is a dwarf variety of the tree and these grow to a pyramidal shape over time. They may be sold when young as an indoor novelty, but their forever home should be outdoors in the garden.
