This dahlia is incredibly special in many ways. The striking large blooms feature layers of delicate pointed petals in shades of pink with subtle gradients of peach and soft butter yellow. The most perfect pastel hues saturate these blooms during August and September and more vibrant rich pink and yellow tones are apparent in very early and late season.
This dahlia is named after my grandma who became known as “Gigi” once us grandkids started having little ones of our own. She loved dinner plate dahlias and was one of our biggest supporters and cheerleaders when we started our business. I miss chatting with her about how to best grow dahlias in pots on her back deck and admiring the blooms together. May her memory live on in gardens across the country as we get to share out this spectacular dahlia.
Blooms can reach up to 11 inches in size, though most tend to average around 7-8 inches. This dinner plate dahlia is highly abundant in flowers, making for an impressive sight. Plants typically grow to a maximum height of 5.5 feet.
